Just a few short months ago I had no idea what I was in for. I entered recruitment with no expectations whatsoever and had it in the back of my mind that I would never go through with the process. I thought it would be a good experience for myself to make a few friends as I entered a new chapter in my life at such a large university. I was taken by surprise when I walked through that blue door at the house that sits at 476 Rose Street. I knew it was where I was meant to be.

So, to my pre-recruitment self, I know you had no idea what you were doing, and honestly did not have much of an interest in doing it either, but here is what you didn’t know was about to happen.

You are gonna walk through the blue door at the Alpha Delta Pi house in your second to last round of Open House. By this point I know you were exhausted, over the uncomfortable shoes that you were wearing, and had sweat off every bit of makeup that you had put on that morning. But that doesn’t matter, because the girls behind the blue door don’t care what you look like, they want to know your heart and what makes you, YOU. You won’t have to answer anymore silly questions like what your favorite color of toenail polish is or what you had for dinner the night before. The conversations that you will have here will be so pure and full of the most positive intentions in getting to know who you are.

A few days later you will be welcomed home by the most amazing group of women that have ever surrounded you in your entire life. They will love you, take super cute pictures with you, and make your bid day one of the most memorable days of your life. Not to mention that you will have 300+ new sisters!!!!!

Fast forward to just a few weeks later. You will get acquainted with the most wonderful people you will ever meet, your fellow members of the AC ‘21 class. You all will share so many memories and be able to relate to one another in so many different ways. You’ll experience your first Caturday together, have study dates at Willy T, sit down to grab a coffee, go to a cycle class together, and so many more fun things. I know you feel like you missed out on having that group of go to girls in middle and high school but just know it’s coming, really soon. These girls are going to become some of your best friends, and they will be there for you forever.

You’re also going to become a part of a diamond family at Alpha Delta Pi. They are going to bring out the absolute best in you by showing you how to carry yourself as a young woman and love you to death!!!!! So to Cam, Reagan, and Grace, thank you for being my rock and my home away from home. I am so thankful that ADPi brought me to you. <3

I could go on and on about how this group of women at Alpha Delta Pi is about to change your life for the better. I am so excited for you and what these next four years will bring. Love, your post-recruitment self.

Thank you to all of my sisters for the joy that being a part of this chapter has brought me. I love you all to the moon and back!!!
