My Why ADPi

The women of ADPi are the women who showed me that a friendship shouldn’t feel like a constant pressure to always be happy, fun, or perfect. Instead, it should be a place where you feel accepted, reassured, and loved, no matter what emotion or feeling you may be experiencing.

Coming into college, I wanted to find genuine people who saw me for who I was and inspired me every day to do the things that bring me happiness, fulfillment, and confidence in who I am and what I deserve. ADPi is just that.

When I was told, “You are who you surround yourself with,” I didn’t want to believe it at first because the people I had surrounded myself with in the past weren’t the kind of friends who would do the little things that made me feel reassured and loved. They wouldn’t choose our friendship in every lifetime, they weren’t role models or true depictions of the kind of person I wanted to be in life, and they weren’t simply people who made life easy to enjoy.

Every woman in Alpha Delta Pi has a way of putting a smile on my face, even when I’m stressed or overwhelmed. They love finding meaning and purpose in their lives every day, even when it may be a challenging one, which inspires me to do the same. They would also go above and beyond for me without a second thought, and that is why I will never take this sisterhood or the women in it for granted.

They have shown me what it means to love with intention, compassion, loyalty, humility, and authenticity. That is why I would choose this chapter and this sisterhood in every season of life, because these women have become the kind of people I would be proud to call my sisters, best friends, and role models.
